The fuse wire is an important application of heating effect of electric current.
When the current is flowing through the conductor having resistance power the current is converted into heat energy due to the effect of resistance this is called as heating effect of electric current.
I²Rt is the principal of heating effect of electric current or it is also called as Joule's law.
1. When the fuse wire is connected in an electrical circuit it protects the circuit.
2. When excess amount of current is drawn from the transformer supplying electricity, the capacity of the transformer becomes insufficient and the fuse wire gets heated and breaks the circuit.
So, here when the fuse wire is rated as 16 A, it will break if current exceeds 16 A
