what is iupac explain I am really weak in that part and give a proper explanation and give examples of hydrocarbons which show isomerism

eg::-- c4h10 = butane

isomer of butane= iso-butane and neo- butane (only two)

IUPAC is a way of naming a compound

See, first you need to find the longest chain...and give the number to the carbon atoms giving first priority to functional group (OH,COOH etc).

If the carbon atoms are 1,2,3,4....9 or 10 then they will have the root word meth,eth,prop,but,pent,hex,hept,non and dec respectively..

If the bond is single, double or triple it will have suffix as ane,ene and yne respectively..as primary suffix

The secondary suffix would contain a functional group such as OH, CHO, COOH, X(F,Cl,Br) they will be named as ol, al, oic acid, chloro,bromo...
