Durga was captured after he threw a bomb on a motor-vehicle carrying the king. He threw bomb in a strict security of thousands of army and police at the Janaki Temple premises in Janakpur during his visit to the eastern Terai.He was executed by shot-to-death in Magh 15, 2020 (February, 1964) at Central Jail, Kathmandu.

In 25th Magh, 2018 BS Durgananda Jha threw a bomb at the vehicle of king Mahendra who was travelling to Janakpur after visiting Jhapa and Morang. This event is known as the "Janakpur Incident' in Nepalease history. Nobody was killed and wounded in this incident. Durgananda Jha, Arbindra Thakur and Dal Singh Thapa were found rsponsible for this incident. So they were announced capital punishment. Leter Durgananda Jha was given capital punishment on 25th Magh 2020 BS whereas remaining two were convert into lifelong detention.
