What is Jihad in Muslim culture?
Answers
Term Jihad means fight in Arabic.
In Quranic verses it represents fight againist Paganism.
In Hadith 'al-jihad fi sabil Allah', there are four ways to perform jihad: by the heart, the tongue, the hand (physical action short of armed combat), and the sword.
By the way, Nowadays understanding of jihad and practising it has taken a very wrong turn. I may not go deep in to it. Some Islamic extremists, hailing themselves to be Jihads are carrying out violent acts.

✨A central idea in Islam is “jihad,” which means “struggle.” While the term has been used negatively in mainstream culture, Muslims believe it refers to internal and external efforts to defend their faith.
✨Jihad, (Arabic: “struggle” or “effort”)also spelled jehad, in Islam, a meritorious struggle or effort. The exact meaning of the term jihad depends on context; it has often been erroneously translated in the West as “holy war.”
✨The word jihad appears frequently in the Quran with and without military connotations, often in the idiomatic expression "striving in the path of God (al-jihad fi sabil Allah)".
