when a current pass through a conductor it becomes hot after sometime this means that electric energy is being converted into heat energy this is known as heating effect of electric current.

let us take a conductor whose resistance is R and the potential difference across the conductor is V and I is the amount of current flowing in the conductor .

let t be the time during which charge Q flows across the conductor.

we know that. I=Q/t

Q=It(1)

we know that. V=W/Q(2)

from 1 and 2

V=W/It

electric energy W=VIt(3)

according to ohm's law

V=IR

put in 3

W=I2Rt

this work done is equal to heat produce by the conductor.

H=I2Rt

electric fuse,electric iron,electric toaster,electric gyser
