according to joule's law, the current produced is directly proportional to:
1)square of the current
2)time for which current is passed through the conductor
3)resistance of the conductor

it is used in roasters, iron box, bulb etc...

When current passes through a conductor, it becomes hot, this phenomena is known as Joules Heating Effect.

Actually, the energy lost by resistance (collision of atoms, electrons etc.) is converted into heat energy and satisfying law of conservation of energy.

Devices which work on this phenomena : Electric Iron, Electric Bulb, Heaters etc.
