Joule heating, also known as Ohmic heating and resistive heating, is the process by which the passage of an electric current through a conductor produces heat.

Joules law of heating states that the heat produced is directly proportional to square of the current, resistance in the wire and temperature of the wire. In simple,

 h \: \alpha  \: i  {}^{2} rt
