The JUDICIARY is the branch of authority in a country which is concerned with law and the legal system. As an arm of the state , the Judiciary performs a number of important functions which depends on the nature and structure of the political system. For example, in a federation the judiciary shall have certain functions denied to the unitary system . In West Germany , a separate constitutional court exist to deal with the constitutional questions. But there are no separate constitutional court in Britain . Consequently , the function that judiciary performs in a various political systems may be analysed by the following headings:

Interpreting law and administering justice.

Arbitrating between various political institutions in political system.

Stabilising and supporting the existing political system.
