When current I flow through a resistor of electric resistance R, heat is produced. The heat produced H depends directly on the square of the current, resistance and time t for which the current is allowed to pass. H=I2Rt, Is called Joule's law of heating. SI unit Heat energy: joule.

Joule's laws are two: first about heat produced by an electric current, and second about how the energy of a gas relates to pressure, volume and temperature. Joule's first law shows the relation between heat generated by an electric current flowing through a conductor.
