kala azar is also known as black fever.
it causes swelling of liver and spleen.
it is usually spread by infected female phlebotomine sandfly's[the vector of leishmania parasite]
symptoms are pain in abdominal areas, swollen lymph nodes ,low blood counts, fever ,night sweats etc..... however some people show no symptoms. medication helps but if left untreated it becomes fatal.

The term "kala-azar " comes from India where it is the hindi for the black fever. this disease is also known as Indian leishmaniasis, viscreal lesishmaniasis, leshmania infection , dumdum fever, black sickness, and BLACK FEVER (in Indian words).
