'Kankar' layer is the bottom layer of the arid soil.It consists of excess calcium carbonate and sodium chloride. Due to its hard and tough texture infiltration of water becomes difficult.So,agriculture in such soils become challenging. Only after proper irrigation such soils become suitable for agricultural purposes.
