In February 1970 Sri Keshavananda Bharati the senior head of the "Edneer Math" filed case against Kerala Government` s attempt, under two state land reforms act, to impose restrictions on the management of its property. This case led to big amendments to the constitution (the 24th, 25th, 26th and 29th) by Indira Gandhi Government to parliament. The amendments struck down bank nationalization, abolition of privy purse of the former rulers and lastly held down that the amending power culd not touch the Fundamental Rights.
