What is khadin ? How is it related to conservation of environment ?
Answers
it is related to conservation of environment in such a way that
........it saves the water
......... which is nothing but water conservation
.....so we can say that it is related to environment conservation
Khadins are long earthen embankments down the slope of catchment areas which contains run off water. A dug well is often located behind the embankment to store extra run off if it has overflow the embankment, slowly the stored water percolates down into ground.
It is related to conservation of environment by the following:
1. Ground water level increases.
2. The area can be used to grow
crops and other natural vegetation.
3. The water does not evaporate, but
spreads out to recharge Wells and
provides moisture for vegetation
over a wide area.
4. Water is from breeding of
mosquitoes which usually happens
with stagnant water collected in
artificial ponds.
5. It is protected from contamination
by human and animal waste.
