Kiang (Equus kiang) is the largest species of wild asses found mostly in the Tibetan region and Himalayan belt. In India, it is found in Ladakh region of Jammu & Kashmir and in Sikkim state also. It is also called Tibetan wild khyang and gorkhar. They are herbivores and prefer flat plateaus and low hills that is
dominated by grasses & sedges. Wolf and sheep are found along with it.

Kiang is the largest in the wild species and is the native of Tibet Plateau and right now they are limited in Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir, plains of Tibet and northern Nepal and at the Tibet border. Other two names for this animal are khayang and gorkhar.
