An extremist Serbian citizen assassinated the prince of Austria, Arch Duke Francis Ferdinand on 28th June 1914 in Sarajevo, the capital city of Bosnia. This was the immediate cause of the First World War. The assassination of the royal representative of Austria was an incentive for the nation to smother Serbia.
