Kyoto Protocol was a general agreement between industrialised nations signed in Kyoto, Japan in the year 1997 to curb and control the emissions of greenhouse gases , considering the rise in global warming. It mandated its signatories to lessen the release of greenhouse gases namely the Carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide ,etc. However it was ended in 2012 and is no longer effective now.
