Labia:

The folds of skin around vaginal opening is known as labia. Labia are smooth and can be short or long.

  • It is the visible portion of the vulva.
  • It covers the smooth muscles and meet above the midline of vaginal opening.
  • It protects the external genital organs.
  • Two small folds of skin are called labia minora. They lack fatty tissue.
  • They protects vagina, urethra and clitoris.
  • They are covered with hairs.
  • There are two pairs of labia :- Labia minora and labia majora.
  • Labia is a women's erogenous zone.
  • Labia minora is responsive sexually.

The inner and outer labia meet, protecting the vaginal opening and, just above it, the opening of the urethra (the short tube that carries urine from te bladder). The Bartholin glands are found just inside the opening of the vagina -- one on each side.s
