➝ What is laboratory thermometer?
Thermometer used in laboratories are called laboratory thermometer. It consists of long fine and uniform narrow glass tube. one end of it has a bulb filled with Mercury.
➝Making use of laboratory thermometer?
- While using the thermometer should be kept upright and not in tilted position.
- The bulb of the thermometer should be surrounded on all sides by the substance of which the thermometer is to be measured.
- The bulb should not touch the bottom or walls of the container.
- While taking the reading we should take the level of Mercury along the line of sight.
- The reading should not be taken taking the laboratory out of the substance of which the temperature is taken. Because laboratory thermometer does not have construction and mercury thread falls as soon as thermometer is taken out ,"so reading will be lesser than the actual temperature".
