Lac operon :- It is the regulation of such type of genes which are involved in the catabolism of lactose.

General info about lac operon :-

1. Lac means lactose which is a disaccharide and is consist of glucose and galactose.

2. In the medium if lactose is added then it will be working as an inducer.

3. Inducer binds with the repressor after this process there will be some conformational changes.

4. After the confirmational changes it becomes inactive and then can't bind with the operator.

5. Catabolic Activator Protein or CAP controls the postive regulation of the lac operon.

6. CAMP is required in order to start the process of CAP i.e. adenyl cyclase.
