A lake is an area filled with water, localized in a basin, that is surrounded by land, apart from any river or other outlet that serves to feed or drain the lake.
Importance of lake are as Lakes are most commonly used for recreation. Swimming, nature viewing, boating, and fishing are popular activities that take place. Lakes also provide a water supply to agricultural, domestic, and industrial uses. Freshwater sources are best to use for drinking water.
