what is land and sea breeze? Give reason for your ans
Answers
Answer:
Land and sea breezes develop because of differential heating and cooling of adjacent land and water surfaces. Water has a greater heat capacity than land, i.e. land absorbs and emits radiation more efficiently and faster. The diurnal temperature differentials between land and water create a distinctive wind pattern — an example of thermal circulation.
During the day the air over land is heated and expands more rapidly than that over water, resulting in pressure changes and a thermally driven circulation with rising air over land and sinking air over water (Figure L1a). At the shoreline the cool sea air blows inland and is known as a sea breeze.
Answer:
The land and water have different heat absorption and heat retention capacity. Thus, this makes the air above them lighter or heavy. The heavy and cooler ait flows towards the lighter and hotter air which in turn gives rise to the breeze. Hence, it is the reason for the occurrence of the land breeze and the sea breeze.
