Land rotation (not to be confused with crop rotation) is a form of shifting cultivation where a piece of land is used for agriculture for several years before it is left fallow for several years to regenerate the soil fertility.

The concept of land rotation is as follows:

  • Land rotation is a system of farming.
  • In this, a piece of land is cultivated by farmers for sometimes. This is also left to clear a new land at the time when the old land becomes less fertile.
  • Land rotation helps to check the spread disease and pests.
  • Large scale of farming is not encouraged by it.
  • This kind of farming destroys virgin forest and needs lots of time.
