Specific Latent Heat. It takes a certainamount of energy to change the state of 1kg of water from solid to liquid. This amount of energy is called the Specific Latent Heat, lf, of water. The definition: "The amount of energy per kg (unit mass) required to change ice to water without change in temperature."

Heat is the total energy of molecular motion in substance
Latent Heat of fusion : The amount of heat absorbed at constant temperature by a unit mass solid to convert into liquid phase is called specific latent heat of fussion.
Latent heat of vaporisation:The amount of heat energy absorbed at constant temperature by unit mass of a liquid to convert into gaseous phase is called specific latent heat of vaporisation
