What is latent heat of vaporisation ? In simple language.
Answers
The amount of heat energy absorbed at constant temp by unit mass of a liquid to convert into gaseous phase is called the specific latent heat of vapourization
Hey !!
The amount of heat required to change the temperature the state of unit mass of a substance from liquid to vapour at its boiling point is called latent heat of vaporisation.
In case of water the latent heat of vaporisation is 526 cal/gm
NOTE :- Latent heat of vaporisation is more than the latent heat of fusion. This is because when a substance gets converted from liquid to vapour, there is a large increase in volume. Hence, more amount of heat is required. But when a solid gets converted to a liquid, then the increase in volume is negligible.
Hence, very less amount of heat is required.
