Laterite soil :-
This soil occurs chiefly in the highland areas of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamilnadu.
It is also found in the holly regions of Assam and orrisa.
Being acidic, this type of soil is generally not favorable for the cultivation of crop.
Grasses, bushes and shrubs grow well in this soil . The acidic nature of this soil makes it suitable for the cultivation of coconut, tea and coffee
