The lattice energy depends upon two factors. They are,
Size of the ion: If the size of the ion is small, inter nuclear distance between the ions is less and there exist a strong attractions between ions. Hence the lattice energy is more.
For example the lattice energy of LiF is greater than the lattice energy of NaF. Because the size of the Li+ ion is lesser than the size of the Na+ ion.
Charge on the ion: As the magnitude of the charge on the ions increases the attractions between the ions increases. Hence, lattice energy increases.
For example the lattice energy of LiF is greater than the lattice energy of LiCl.
