what is leading strand and lagging strand?
Answers
continuous replication of one gene of DNA is termed as leading strand the formation of second chain begins from the centre and not from the terminal points so this chain is discontinuous and is made up of small fragments call okazaki fragments that is continuous chain is termed as lagging strand ultimately all the segments joined together and complete a new chain is formed
Answer!
leading strand :-
(I) the replicated stand of DNA which grow continuously without any gap.
(II) DNA Ligase enzyme is not required for its growth.
(III) It is synthesized in the 5’—>3’direction.
lagging strand :-
(I) the replicated strand of DNA formed of short Okazaki fragment.
(II) DNA ligase enzymes is required for joining Okazaki fragments.
(III) In Okazaki fragments direction is 3’ –>5’
