Hey there !

Solution:

Least Count refers to the minimum possible value that an instrument can measure. That is, the minimum value present in an measuring instrument.

The Least count for each instrument differs according to their uses and convenience.

Least Count is generally calculated by the following Formula:

  • Least Count = Maximum Value / Number of Divisions between them

E.g. A ruler can have a maximum value of 1 cm that can be measured conveniently. So Maximum Value = 1 cm and the number of divisions present between 1 cm and 0 cm is 10.

=> Least Count = 1 / 10 = 0.1 cm or 1 mm

Hence it is the least count of a ruler.

Hope my answer helped !
