➡ The smallest quantity which an instrument can measure is called its least count.

Least count in Screwgauge :-

Suppose in one complete rotation of screw head distance travelled by the screw tip is S. So, pitch or thread-interval to the screw gauge is S.

If there are n number of division on circular scale of screw head then the Least Count =

$\frac{pitch \: or \: thread \: interval}{number \: of \: divisions \: on \: circular \: scale \: of \: screw \: head}$

Normally, least count of screw gauge is 0.01 mm or 0.001 cm.
