hey see there are two different meaning of left in politics.

one is ideal and universal for all democracies while in india, left is an alliance formed in West Bengal with CPM and CPI - M

Left government is any government which follows following principals:

1st.) Social welfare programs:>>>>>>>> They believe that social welfare programs would lift the people from below poverty line. Ex: subsidies on various items, MGNREGA, giving money to unemployed youth etc.

2nd)Encourages progressive taxes>>>> they believe that people who earn more should pay high taxes, so that they can utilise the money for the welfare of poor and nation.

3rd.) Protection of local trade>>>>>> they believe that globalisation will make local industries out of competition. so they protect domestic business by adding tarrif barriers for MNCs.

these people are generally liberalism, communist or socialist.

the right front has following principals::::

1st.)) FTA( free trade agreement) = they believe that govt shouldn't put any kind of trade barriers and the local business should become more competent.

2nd) encourages regressive taxation >>>>> they believe that all people irrespective of their income should be taxed.

3rd.) >>govt don't take any social welfare programmes

these are generally conservative

the third front is called centre

hope it helps you
