Lenz's law is a common way to understand how electromagnetic circuits obey Newton's third law and the conservation of energy. Lenz's law is named after Heinrich Lenz, and it says: An induced electromotive force (emf) always gives rise to a current whose magnetic field opposes the change in original magentic flux.

lenz's law in Science. Lenz's law, A principle stating that an electric current, induced by a source such as a changing magnetic field, always creates a counterforce opposing the force inducing it. This law explains such phenomena as diamagnetism and the electrical properties of inductors
