The definition of a lichen is a plant found on rocks or trees made of both a specific fungus and a specific algae that help one another. An example of a lichen is the colored patch growing on a tree branch.

Lichen is just a composite organism that emerges from Cynobacteria(or Blue Green Algae, as it is commonly called) and Fungus. It shows the symbiotic relationship b/w the two. Fungus provides the blue green algae with the nutrients, minerals and water, and in return, the blue green algae, does photosynthesis and provides the fungus with food!

Hope you got it!
