Answer:

Light is a form of energy which gives us the sensation of vision.

Its velocity is 3 × 10^8 . Light is a form of electromagnetic radiation that is detected by human eye. It is a part of electromagnetic spectrum and radiation given off by stars like sun. Light is also called as visible light which is composed of wavelength of range

400 nm -700 nm (nm = nano meter).

Its properties are :

a) It is a source of energy that emits radiation is capable of reflection, refraction, total internal reflection, transmission, internal reflection, diffraction and diffusion.

b) It has dual nature that is wave nature and particle nature.

WAVE NATURE : It travels as waves as it propagates in straight line.

PARTICLE NATURE : It has particles which emits energy and radiation for e.g. infrared radiation for heat, ultraviolet rays, etc. It consists of particles called 'photon' which has electron, proton as well as neutron.

c) Light has polarization, intensity, wavelength spectrum and propagation direction.

Here,

• Polarization = Polarization is the property applying to transverse waves that specifies the geometrical orientation of the oscillations.

• Intensity = Intensity for e.g. is brightness, which is measured as the rate at which light energy is delivered to a unit of a surface , or energy per unit time per unit area.

S.I. unit = watt per sq. meter

= W / m^2

• Wavelength Spectrum = It is the electromagnetic spectrum which is of the range of frequencies of electromagnetic radiations and their respective wavelengths and photon energies.

• Propagation Direction : Propagation direction of light refers to the manner in which an electromagnetic wave transfers its energy from one point to another.

Hi mate

Light:

Light, or Visible Light, commonly refers to electromagnetic radiation that can be detected by the human eye. Light can also be described in terms of a stream of photons, massless packets of energy, each travelling with wavelike properties at the speed of light.

Properties of light:

  • Reflection of light.
  • Refraction of light.
  • Diffraction of light.
  • Interference of light.
  • Polarization of light.
  • Dispersion of light.
  • Scattering of light.
