Tall buildings, therefore have a pointed(usually)copper rod fixed on the highest point of the roof. The pointed rod is called the Lightning conductor. It is made up of a thick metal strip. If it is not present then the charge would pass through the walls of the building causing the damage to the materials and making the walls unsafe.
