what is lightning conductor ? How does lightning conductor prevent damage to buildings during lightning?

hi there,
lightning conductor is a metal rod attached to the top of the building.the other end of the rod is connected  to earth.when lightning strikes the rod(as it is higher)it goes to the ground.thus protecting it.

lightning conductors are used to protect buildings from the damaging effects of lightning.lightning strikes the buildings or other objects because the materials in them provide an easier path to the ground than air.

the basic idea behind lightning protection is to provide a direct ,easy path for the lightning bolt to enter the ground without passing through a building or any other object.

a lightning runs from the top to the bottom of the outer structure,along the wall.

the lower end of the lightning conductor is connected to a metal plate,which is buried deep under the ground.

if lightning strikes,the lightning conductor provides an easy path for the charge to pass through to the ground,thus protecting the building.
