Explanation:

Lightning conductor protects the building from lightning. They are long, thick metal rods with spikes at the highest points of tall buildings. These rods are installed during the construction of the buildings as they are known as the lightning conductors. The lower end of the conductor is fitted to a copper or an aluminium plate which is buried inside the earth. The electric charge that comes in contact with the conductor is passed to the ground through the conductor thus, preventing the building from any harm or damage.
