Explanation:

limiting limiting friction is nothing but the maximum value of static friction

you know that friction is a self adjusting force means its value will be equal to the applied external force

let's understand with an example

consider a block 1 kg kept on horizontal plane surface having coefficient of friction point 0.5

now let's calculate the frictional force actually when we calculate we directly calculate the limiting friction like,

f=mew(N)= mew×m×g= 0.5×1×10= 5N

This value is limiting friction, means the the surface can stop the block from moving only when you apply external force of 5N

let's discuss cases

case1: when you apply an external force of 3 Newton , then the frictional force will also be 3 Newton because the block has to be at rest, and frictional force is more than external force the block will move backwards which is practically impossible as we all know ( how can I block simply go backwards if you apply force in front direction friction just makes it at rest)

case 2÷ when you apply an external force of 5 Newton the frictional force will also be find Newton and this value of frictional force is called limiting value of frictional force or limiting friction

case 3÷ when you apply external force greater than 5 Newton the block will start moving as frictional force is less than external force it cannot oppose that much of external force it can oppose only maximum of 5 Newton of external force.
