Answer:

For example, a heavy truck moving rapidly has a large momentum—it takes a large or prolonged force to get the truck up to this speed, and it takes a large or prolonged force to bring it to a stop afterwards. If the truck were lighter, or moving more slowly, then it would have less momentum.

AnSwer :-

Linear Momentum :-

Linear momentum is the product of the mass of a body and its velocity.

i.e., \sf\vec{p} = m\sf\vec{v}

\Large\starLinear momentum is a vector. It has the same direction as the direction of velocity of the body. SI unit :- kg/ms, CGS unit :- g cm/s

Dimensional formula :- [M¹L¹T^{-1} ]

If a body of mass m changes its velocity from \sf \overline{u} to \sf \overline{v} then the change in the momemtum of body is \sf ∆ \vec{p} = (m \vec{v} - m \vec{u}) Momemtum and change in momemtum both have same direction but this is not always the case.

For example :-

When a stone is rotated with uniform speed in a horizontal plane by means of string, the magnitude of momemtum is fixed but its direction changes.
