litmus is a paper which tells weather a substance is acid or base.it is obtained from lichens and purple in hue

It is a kind of indicator taken from a plant called lichens . it is mauve (purple)in colour for neutral litmus solution .there are litmus papers of colours blue and red . Blue litmus when dipped in acids turn red.Red litmus when dipped in bases turn blue in colour
