liverworts are small novascular( no xylem orphloem) plants related with mosses with gametophyte - dominant life histories. The common liverwort used in biology classes is marchantia polymorpha, found world wide in damp locations like moist ground and rocks near the mist of waterfalls, streams and rivers.
