Explanation:log(a+b)=log(b*(a/b+1))
log(a+b)=logb +log(a/b+1) …(1)
OR
log(a+b)=log(a*(1+b/a))
log(a+b)=loga+log(1+b/a) …(2)
Let a=1,b=2
Now using eqn 1 to find log(1+2)
log(1+2)=log2+log(1/2+1)
log(1+2)=0.477
Using eqn 2
log(1+2)=log1+log(2/1+2)
log(1+2)=0.477
Well the above two equations are of no use bcoz it increases length of simple calculation .
We can use simple maths 2 solve log(1+2)
log(1+2)=log(3) (adding both numbers)
log(1+2)=0.477 (using log table)
