Lubricants are the things that reduce the friction as foe. For example
We use telecom power to reduce the friction between the sriker and the coin and to make the slide of coin on the surface smooth. On the other hand, we use oil in machinaries to decrease friction between its parts because friction can wear or tear both in machinaries but it is called streamlined shape of the fish
