A lubricant is a substance introduced to reduce friction between surface in mutual contact, which ultimately reduces the heat generated when the surfaces moves. The property of reducing friction is known as lubricity. Lubricants are generally composed of a majority of base oil plus a variety of additives to impart desirable characteristics is called as Lubricant oil. Lubricants performs keep moving parts apart, reduce friction transfer heat, carry away contaminants and debris, transmit power.

QUESTION :

WHAT ARE LUBRICANTS?

ANSWER :

lubricants are the substances which are used to reduce the friction between two objects in contact . some examples for lubricants are oil , grease etc.

lubricant oil : Lubricating oil, sometimes simply called lubricant/lube, is a class of oils used to reduce the friction, heat, and wear between mechanical components that are in contact with each other. ... Mineral oils are lubricating oils refined from naturally occurring crude oil.

ROLE OF LUBRICANTS:

1.true lubricants role :

to decrease friction at the interface between a tablet's surface and the die wall during ejection and reduce wear punches and dies.

2.Anti-adherent Role :

Prevent sticking to punch faces or in the case of encapsulation, lubricants prevent sticking to machine dosators , tamping pins etc.

3.Glidant role :

Enhance product flow by reducing interparticulate friction.
