Extra Information :-
- In addition to a blood vascular system, all vertebrates posses a lymphatic system.
- Lymph can be defined as blood without Red Blood Cells (RBCs).
- The most important centre for the production of lymph is the "Intestinal space".
- Lymph vessels unite to form larger lymph vessels which ultimately drain into two large lymph vessels called "Thoracic duct" and "Right lymphatic duct".
- The Thoracic duct is larger and longer than the right lymphatic duct.
- The Thoracic duct begins as a prominent sac in the abdominal cavity called "Cisterna chyli".
- Lymph from the right portion of the body enters the blood stream at the "Right Subclavian vein" and rest of the body at the "Left Subclavian vein".
- The movement of lymph is mainly due to the squeezing action of the surrounding muscles.
- Lymph circulation is slow and uncertain.
- Physical exercise increases the circulation of lymph inside the body.
