Just like the vascular system….there is an other system call lymphatic system.

The fluid present in the lymph vessels is called lymph.

It doesn't contain the blood rather it contains lymph, some leukocytes, fats, proteins etc.

Just like the blood vessels there are lymph vessels which carry the lymph and other components…..

Main Functions :

Helps in the immune system of body

Conveys fats in the form of chylomicrons

Contains nodes which get enlarged if there is any infection in the body

Through the pores present in the walls of capillaries some amount of plasma, proteins and blood cells escape into intercellular spaces between the tissue to form the the tissue fluid or lymph.

Function :-

1. Lymph drains into lymphatic capillaries from the intercellular spaces, which join to form large lymph vessels that finally open into larger veins.

2. Lymph carries digested and absorbed fat from intestine and drains excess fluid from extra cellular space back into the blood.
