Answer :-

The following are the facts regarding the Lymphatic system :-

  • In addition to the blood vascular system, all vertebrates posses a lymphatic system.

  • Basically, Lymph can be defined as Blood without Red Blood Cells (RBCs).

  • Lymph is a clear, colourless fluid.

  • Lymph is similar to plasma but, it consists of much less amount of protein than that of plasma.

  • The most important centre for the formation of Lymph is the "Intestinal space".

  • Lymph vessels unite to form larger lymph vessels which ultimately drain into two large vessels known as the "Thoracic duct" and the "Right lymphatic duct".

  • The movement of lymph is mainly due to the squeezing action of the surrounding muscles. For this, there is no presence of a pumping organ like the "Heart".

  • Lymphatic circulation is slow and uncertain.

  • Physical exercise increases the rate of circulation of lymph in the body.
