Required Answer:-

A magnetic compass consists of a small and light weight magnetic needle pivoted at its mid point. So, that is can freely rotate in Horizontal place. The needle is enclosed in a flat circular aluminum box. Aluminum is a non magnetic substance with a glass plate at the top. At the base of the box, the four main direction, i.e, North (N), South (S) , East (E) and West (W) and four Sub directions - North East, Northwest , Southeast, southwest. are marked. Generally, The north pole of the magnetic needle is painted red and the south pole blue or Black.

Uses of Magnetic Compass:-

Magnetic Compass is a simple device which is used by sailors , Navigators, Pilots, Soldiers and Mountaineers etc. to find the direction.
