Explanation:
1) A magnetic field lines is an imaginary curve along which a free unit north pole tends to move. 3) The tangent to the magnetic field lines at any point gives the direction of magnetic field at that point. 4) Two magnetic field lines never intersect each other. 5) It is vector quantity.

Answer:
The area around the magnet or the current carrying conductor in which force of attraction or repulsion can be detected. Magnetic field in a given region can be represented with the help of magnetic field lines.
- Magnetic field lines are imaginary lines used to show magnetic field in a given region.
- Magnetic field lines are closed continuous curves and are directed from north pole to south pole outside the magnet and from south pole to North pole inside the magnet.
- The tangent at any point on the magnetic fieldsl lines gives the direction of magnetic field at that point. This is also the direction of orientation of the needle of the magnetic compass if kept at the point.
- Magnetic field lines are closer together (crowded) in the region where the magnetic field is strong and are widely separated in the region where the magnetic field is weak.
- Magnetic field lines do not intersect each other. This is because if you place the magnetic compass at the point of intersection it will orient itself only in one direction and not in two directions.
