Explanation:

If the Object and Image are kept at the same distance the theratioo of the angle subtended by each on your eye is the magnification. M=Angle made by Image/Angle made by the Object. Or M=size of the Image/size of the object. ht of image I/ht of object O=v/u=magnification.

Here is your answer:

Magnification:

Magnification is the process of enlarging the apparent size, not physical size, of something. This enlargement is quantified by a calculated number also called "magnification".

Derivation:

M=Angle made by Image/Angle made by the Object (m = h'/h).

Or M=size of the Image/size of the object.

The ratio of the length of image to the length of the object. m = `1/"O"`

It is also given as. m = `-"v"/"u"`

Where, u and v is the object and image distance, respectively.ht of image I/ht of object O=v/u=magnification.
