Numerical value x unit is known as magnitude.

eg. if a force of 5 newton is there.. then n= 5
u= N or newton

magnitude = 5x N = 5N.

Magnitude  is a size or quantity .One dimensional scalar is describes by its magnitude alone while,two dimensional vector is fully described by it's magnitude and direction.Speed is a  magnitude of movement.
